The Maryland Exiles Rugby Club is an American rugby union club based in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. The senior men's club was established in 1993 and competes in Division I of the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Union.
The Exiles ("MDX") has contributed more than a dozen players to the United States national team, the U.S. Eagles in seven-a-side and fifteen-a-side rugby. MDX Rugby is one of the most successful rugby teams in the U.S. making the U.S. final four seven-a-side final four of the last five years. MDX qualified for the Division I U.S. National Playoffs in 2007 and 2008 as the number one seed of the CR4 Region (Northeast US).
The club is responsible for founding and coaching the University of Maryland Terrapins, one of the dominant college teams on the East Coast. In addition, Exiles alumni coach many area high school rugby programs including DeMatha Catholic, Gonzaga College High School, Landon School for Boys, The Maryland Exiles Under-19s, Mount St. Joe's, St. John's College High School and Calvert Hall College High School.
