Margaret Chai Maloney

Margaret Chai Maloney is a Chinese-American historical fiction writer and communications strategist. She currently serves on the boards of the American Heart Association, Cinequest, and Palo Alto History Museum.
Life
Margaret was born in New Jersey to Dr. Winchung Alvin Chai and concert organist and author Sylvia Marcinko. Her grandfather, Charles Chu Chai, was a notable Chinese scholar and Stanford University graduate who helped write and draft the Chinese constitution for the Nationalist Government and wrote New York Times Bestseller The Changing Society of China (ISBN 1258461439). She attended Mount Holyoke College and Oxford University. She is currently based out of Palo Alto, California with her husband Sean Maloney and their three daughters.
She started her career in strategic communications with Robinson Lake Sawyer Miller in 1994, specializing in crisis and strategic communications.
From 2008-2010 she was Vice President of Public Relations at Tigo Energy. She served as a key contributor in their international expansion, partnership with solar distribution company AEE Solar, and Round B fundraising.
In 2010, her husband, Sean Maloney suffered a stroke. She decided to leave her position at Tigo Energy and relocate to Beijing, China to support his endeavor of running Intel's China division.
After returning to Palo Alto, she continued her PR work with the founders of Silicon Valley startups and Fortune 500 Companies. In 2012, she helped to start the Young Women's Leadership Academy whose mission was to prepare female high school students for success in college, career, and community leadership.
