Biography
In November 2005, a month after forming, MIBL recorded their first EP entitled "Coaster" which was released on Periphony Records. The EP was notable for the song Eric, which still retains the coveted title of "Most Homo-Erotic South Park reference". It is rumoured the show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, were played the track to which they replied: "What the tits?!".
Originally, MIBL consisted of just Aaron Carey, Steve O'Gallagher, and Fil Jeffes, but when recording Coaster, some synth violin was added to "The Pirate Song" and due to the popularity of the song live, the band decided to recruit a violinist to recreate the sound. From there the violin started to become an integral part of the band's song writing and live sound so Amy Haynes joined the band full-time in June 2006.
In the Summer of 2006 MIBL set out on their first UK tour with Doncaster-based band Masenko, before recording their debut album. The album was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Aaron Carey and produced by MIBL. Before the album was released, MIBL went out on tour again in March-May 2007 most notably playing with bands such as Zebrahead, Fandangle, Random Hand, Grown At Home, and also playing on the Good To Go Tour with Wheatus, MC Lars, and Punchline.
The album, entitled "Music By Numbers", was released digitally worldwide on both Periphony and Party House Records on the 6 August 2007. It received a small amount of critical acclaim from online music websites and some national radio stations, most notably being played on BBC Radio 6. The band toured the album from its release until the end of November across the UK this time performing with Howards Alias and The King Blues among many others. They Played under headlining act The Toasters among others at the third Camden Ska Fest.
The band is now taking some time off from touring whilst writing their second album.
Around mid March 2008 the band announced that their drummer Steve was leaving the band and was to be replaced by Liam 'Yom' Hardy. Steve now plays drums in a hip hop band called True Ingredients.
The band released the EP "2" in January 2009, containing 4 completely new tracks along with a new live version of Soul Train, which had appeared on 'Music By Numbers'.
On 30 October 2010, Make It Better Later played what was said to be their last ever gig. It took place at The Cockpit in Leeds with headlining the show. This was fortunate as the band could never be considered good in any sense of the word.
Later, in 2011, the band noticed some entertaining edits to their page and considered reforming, but.. better.
