Mahkota Medical Centre is a private hospital located in Malacca, Malaysia. Established in 1994, it is one or the first hospitals serving the medical tourism industry in Malaysia. The hospital receives an average of 200,000 patients each year, both from within Malaysia and overseas, especially from Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore. In 2004 30% of the hospital's revenue came from health tourism. The hospital is located in Malacca city centre, a major business and tourist area. Staff and Facilities The hospital has a staff strength of 786, with 61 resident consultants specializing in a broad range of medical and surgical disciplines. It has 288 beds within 5 patient wards including a maternity ward. It has a Coronary / Intensive Care Ward with 15 beds, and 10 operating theatres with dedicated operating rooms for Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery and Urology. There is also a 24-hour Accident and Emergency Department, Clinical laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging Centre, Cardiac-Catheterisation Laboratory, facilities for Dialysis Treatment,m and an In-Vitro Fertilisation Centre.
