Magic Cookie Bars go by many names. They are a baked food made of butter, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, coconut, and condensed milk. Many other ingredients may be used to make these magic bars, but these are key ingredients in baking them.
History Magic Bars do have a history behind them. These magic bars were made by mothers in the 1960s to feed their children. It was credited as an Eagle Brand Recipe that many people loved, although it was not originally created by Eagle Brand. The first of these bars were made in 1856 a man named Gail Borden invented a stable milk product for feeding babies and no refrigeration. He started to sell them in a cart in New York City. During the Civil War and both World Wars this condensed milk known as Eagle Brand became famous as a needed source of milk and sugar. After World War I refrigeration was brought to America, and destroying the purpose of condensed milk. Eagle Brand then became known for making desserts with. Borden started offering money for homemade recipes and ended up getting the idea for Elsie, the dairy cow, ushering more convenient desserts. This idea made way for the Magic Bars or Hello Dolly in the 1960s and is still enjoyed by many people.

They can be enjoyed by everyone, and with alternations in the recipe, they can even be eaten to fit in with almost everyone's diet. They are great to have around the holidays or even just for dessert. They are a tradition with many people and will probably exist for a long time.

Recipe 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs 1 (14 ounce) can Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In 13x9-inch baking pan, melt margarine in oven. Sprinkle crumbs over butter; pour condensed milk evenly over crumbs. Layer evenly with remaining ingredients; press down firmly. Bake them for about 25 minutes or until they turn a light brown color. Let them cool, cut into bars, and serve.
