Macro-Perimeterisation

Macro-Perimeterisation is a concept related to the JerichoForum that involves devolving a "part" of the security of the Internet back to the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other network providers. It is one of the required activities involved in the concept of de-perimeterisation.
Nowadays, the trust involved in the Internet assumes that the users have sole accountability for their actions in a network. However, the JerichoForum posits that accountability from the part of ISPs will soon be true of network connections to the Internet.
The following example may illustrate this concept better: some time ago, water providers were able to make a profit without checking the quality of the water. It took the spread of diseases such as cholera to make the public aware of the need to make providers accountable for the quality of their product. Consequently, it is now expected that tap water will come through clean and safe.
