Lyric Lounge Review

Lyric Lounge Review is an independent music news and reviews site with an international audience but a strong UK audience and is particularly popular in their hometown of Nottingham
Established in 2005 by Jordan and Tanya Russell, a husband and wife combo whom both have extensive experience in music journalism. They currently have a team of writers extending from Bournemouth to Scotland and everywhere in between. Lyric Lounge has helped launch the careers of talented writers such as Bex Bailey, winner of Young Journalist of the Year
Lyric Lounge’s dedication to good, honest reviews and meaningful articles has helped them establish a loyal readership of over 75,000 readers per month. Once a year, they also produce an end of year fanzine which is distributed across 5 major city centres in England.

Lyric Lounge Review has a strong ethos of taking music journalism back to being about the musicians; their aim is to give readers what they want - honest reviews and news about the artist they love - not sensationalist stories.
Lyric Lounge Review has recently started recording Lyric Lounge Live sessions. These are 1 hour programs that are 'unplugged' and incorporate an interview throughout the show. The shows will be broadcast through the website and, when launched, is expected to reach an audience in excess of 10,000.
Their ethos is that they do not believe that the journalist is bigger than the act, and they do not hide behind vacuous reviews which tell the reader nothing about the music. In an interview, Jordan was asked what this meant and his reply was, "I got tired of reading music reviews and finding that by the end of the article I still didn't know if I would like the band or not - something needed fixing".
Lyric Lounge is all about the acts for the reader. The founders maintain the site for the love of music and comedy. Lyric Lounge currently runs as a social enterprise, trying to give a voice to unheard, unsigned music whilst still delivering news and reviews on alternative, indie, folk, rock and metal music.
Lyric Lounge has recently expanded to incorporate comedy events due to popular demand gaining sponsorship by Funhouse Comedy, a leading national comedy outfit.
