Mark Zito (born October 11, 1987) is an American entertainer from East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Zito graduated from East Greenwich High School in 2006 and Syracuse University in 2010. To date, Zito has worked predominantly in radio working for Clear Channel Communications, Shovio.com, and hosting his own show on college networks and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. He has also written for CollegeHumor.com, writing a popular column entitled "The Morning After: Kid Nation". The Mark Zito Show The Mark Zito Show started as a podcast on MarkZito.com. The show, called Sound Bytes and then Mixtape featured music and interviews from up and coming artists. College Radio, 2007-2009 In fall 2007, the show was re-branded as The Mark Zito Show and moved to WJPZ-FM where it was broadcast from noon to 3pm in Syracuse. Zito and the management at “The Beat of Syracuse, Z89” did not see eye to eye. Zito holds the distinction of having one of the longest suspensions in station history before eventually being fired in fall 2008. After leaving Z89, Zito restarted The Mark Zito Show at the campus television station, The Orange Television Network. It was there that the show expanded to three nights a week, broadcasting from 10pm to midnight Monday to Wednesday. The show’s topics started to get more in-depth and music started to take a backseat to talk. It was common to hear 30 minutes of talk and 30 minutes of music per hour. From September 2008, the show was syndicated live to college radio stations around the country. The Mark Zito Show was (and remains) the first and only college radio show ever to have done this. In January 2009, the show added co-host Steve Granelli and almost completely eliminated music from the program, instead focusing on talk. Satellite Radio, summer 2009 In May 2009, Zito was given the opportunity to do the show for an international audience of Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. The program started on July 4, 2009. The show, then called, Mark Zito’s College Radio on Satellite Radio, anchored Saturday Nights on Sirius/XM Stars Too. Zito was the youngest namesake of a talk show in the history of satellite radio. The show was marketed as a spin-off of the popular Stars Too program, The Covino and Rich Show. Over the summer months, numerous celebrities appeared including Ron and Fez, Matt Nathanson and Julia Allison, with whom Zito and his team had a run-in on-air. College Radio and Shovio.com, 2009-2010 Returning to Syracuse for his senior year, Zito once again syndicated the radio show, this time as a one-hour program on Monday to Thursday. The show included a special live studio audience broadcast on December 7, 2009, when Zito shaved his head in support of children with cancer. Over $1000 was raised and the musician Julian Velard played live. From January to May 2010, the show was carried by Shovio.com, a web service founded by . The Ron and Fez Show, 2011 Zito used to work as an acting producer for The Ron and Fez Show on Sirius XM's The Opie and Anthony Channel. He was known for on-air segments including conflicts with the host Fez Whatley and people expressing their dislike for him. John Mayer Fandom Zito is well known for his support of musician, John Mayer. Frequent spots on his shows have detailed his attempts to interview the singer, including a segment on his Sirius/XM show every week that counted down the "Weeks (He'd) Gone Without Talking To John".
