Lost the dressing room

"Lost the dressing room" is a term primarily used in association football (but increasingly so in other team sports) to describe the situation where a manager of a club is seemingly very near to being sacked. The team will invariably be struggling on the pitch, the manager will be under a lot of pressure and the signs may be that he has lost the faith and respect of his players. This often manifests itself in increased numbers and intensity of arguments between managers and players as well as dissent and direct disobedience of instructions.
Examples of managers supposedly meeting this fate include Brian Laws at Burnley during the 2009/10 season (reported in the Daily Mail) and Rafa Benitez the following season at Liverpool (as reported by the Daily Star). and Roy Hodgson, benitez's replacement in 2011.
