Holmfirth Town F.C.

Holmfirth Town F.C. are a football club based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, England, and are members of the Huddersfield and District Association Football League for the 2010-11 season.
They were established in 2010 and were formed from the previous club FC Railway. The creation of the club marks a return to football for former Huddersfield Town director and Chairman Andrew Watson. Alongside fellow former Huddersfield Town players Rob Edwards and Ian Wadsworth, he was instrumental in getting the project off the ground.
The trio, are joined by Josh Mallinson, who will manage the first team; the club will field first and reserve teams in the 2010/11 season plan to have junior sides in place for 2011/12. The club has strong links with the local schools, Holmfirth Junior, Infant & Nursery School and Holmfirth High School, the latter being where the club will play its home matches in the 2010/11 season. The clubs 2 strips of red and black and amber and black reflect the colours of the two schools. Some of their current star players include James Jaffrey, Alex Purchell, Leon Monaghan and first team captain Ben Wilson. Other notable names include George "Dean Wilkes" Michael, Gary "Has anyone seen my hair" Martin and Brian Eefcurtains.
Andrew Watson, club Chairman explained the reason for the club being formed. “Our intention is to build a proper community football club where no-one takes any personal gain, through partnership with Holmfirth High School, we are exploring opportunities to develop sports facilities for the whole community. We have three key messages: play for Holmfirth Town, take up a voluntary club position and become an official partner for a donation of your choice.” Watson believes Holmfirth has huge potential, explaining “The surrounding villages all have long established clubs, but the town itself, which has a population of around 20,000 as well as businesses and schools, doesn’t. There is certainly the infrastructure to build a successful club. I have always had a dream of starting my own team and taking it through the local leagues, and Holmfirth was an obvious choice of place.” Watson added “After almost 2 years out of football, I am ready to return. We’re starting at grass-roots level, but that’s the way it should be, because we want to lay down foundations for a club that will be strong for years to come”
