The following is the list of characters of the Indian drama television series, Dekha Ek Khwaab. The show is largely inspired by the film Princess Diaries The series centers around the life of a poor-girl-turned-princess named Moniya whose wish of becoming a princess comes true overnight. Moniya used to live with her baba Murari, whom she didn't know had kidnapped her when she was 3 years old with the intention of killing her,but turned soft and raised her like his own child when he saw his own deceased child in her. Her life takes many nail biting twists and turns when she suddenly finds herself surrounded by her royal family who expect her to live up to their expectations, and behave like a royal princess....... Main characters Moniya/Rajkumari Manyata Moniya/Rajkumari Manyata is played by the Indian actress Priyal Gor. She is the daughter of the royal family of Devgadh , i.e. a princess. She was kidnapped by a watchman when she was 3, so she had been away from her family for 16 years.Even though she was unable to adjust with her royal family at the beginning,she is slowly learning to respect and accept her family and turn into a regal princess. In the present scenario, she is shown to love Aakash, her boyfriend from her before-turning-into-a-princess-life, whom she desperately wants as her life partner. She is portrayed as a smart, bold and ongoing person ,still,a bit of naivety is still there. She describes herself as a light-bulb who provides light to everyone around her.She has a very childlike mind and does not realize what consequences her actions will lead her to. Currently, she is shown trying to earn back her title of being Devgargh's Yuvrani which was recently taken away from her and given to her sister,Jaynandini, for Manyata's irresponsible behaviour towards her family.She wants to become a princess so she can earn respect and power with which she can search for Akash. Akash Verma Akash Verma is played by Indian actor Abhishek Rawat . . He is from a upper middle class family . He was the senior manager of his company but was fired on the instructions of Udaybeer. He had a good salary . He is in love with Manyata and wants to marry her . Manyata changed his life and showed him what his happiness and life. He can go to any extent to save Manyata . He wants to save her from Udaybeer as Udaybeer is fooling Manyata telling her that he has become good . He was getting calls fom a person telling him that he will kill be killed . That person was Udaybeer. Uday beer and Akash had a fight in which Akash disappeared .Akash wants to be with Manyata forever . Currently he has disappeared because of Udaybeer. Yuvraj Udayveer (Uday) Yuvraj Udayveer is played by the Indian actor Ashish Kapoor. He is the male protagonist . He is shown as a handsome,cute,charming, cunning and dashing prince who previously did not believe in love, but changed when Manyata came in his life. She was the first girl who hasn't paid any attention to Udayveer and doesn't want anything to do with him. This is what attracts him even more to her.At the beginning of the show ,he was just interested in princess Manyata's will but her one-of-a-kind attitude made him fall for her.Even though he still strongly holds the belief that everything he does has to be for his state, he is shown to be under pressure,and always seems to be conscious about whatever he is doing due to the fact that some wrong things said by him might affect the prestige of his state in the media's eye.There is something about his character which shows that he is like a coin with two sides i.e a Jekyll and Hyde character. He is responsible for Akash's disappearance. Rajkumari Jaynandini (J) Rajkumari Jaynandini is played by the Indian actress Shritama Mukherjee.J as she is commonly known is a Parallel Female Protagonist. She is the pretty, spoiled, and bratty younger daughter of the royal Singh family. She is mean but occasionally pretends to have a heart of gold. Usually, J tries to find ways that she can benefit in life and generally does not care for others. However, she cares for her grandmother and does not like it when Rajmata gets upset--especially for a reason that J caused. J is normally shown in mini dresses, miniskirts, and rather short clothing. She dislikes Indian dresses but wears them if she needs to. She has two friends, known as K and L. They sometimes have influence over J's decisions in life.She is also shown to be in good terms with her cousin Vijaypanna , who often encourages her to make plans to land Manyata in trouble. Before Manyata's arrival ,Jaynandini was in a pick-and-drop relationship with Udayveer. She has known him since she was a child and her sister, Moniya/Manyata, is supposed to marry him. She thinks of Uday as a "perfect husband" due to the fact that he is rich, handsome, clever, and has a almost similar personality like her. However, he is not an option for her, since Rajmata had already given her word 16 years ago to Maharaj Giriraj of Jaigarh to bind the two state's relations by marrying Devgarh's elder princess to the prince of Jaigadh. Other than this, J first meant to marry Jagat, a man who Rajmata selected for her. Rajmata Mrinalini Devi Rajmata Mrinalini Devi is played by the Indian actress Aruna Irani. Rajmata Mrinalini Devi is shown as a kind, caring and responsible queen. Rajmata is the queen and grandmother in the royal Singh family. She is very responsible and gracious, as one might say. Rajmata was heartbroken when her granddaughter, Manyata, was kidnapped at the age of three. Even though Rajmata loves Jaynandini, she loves Manyata even more. Rajmata tries to do everything in her power to get Manyata back. She does not party, and is happy with her family and relatives. Rajmata is described as keeping a cool head and finds a solution to almost every problem that she has to face. Rajmata's unnamed husband, the king of the Singh family, died some years ago. After her marriage, Rajmata had two children, whom she named Mainka and Brijraj. In her will, Rajmata named all of the Singh wealth and property to her favorite granddaughter, Manyata, in the hope that one day she will be found. Rajmata is angered when her son reacts badly to her decision of marrying Jaynandini off to a non-royal family. She does not look at their family roots, nor their wealth. She looks at the person's habits and personality. Rajkumari Unatti Rajkumari Unatti is played by the Indian actress Ankita Bhargava in the show. Rajkumari Unatti is shown as an understanding, intelligent, and kind princess. She has long black hair, usually open and a slender figure. Unatti is the younger sister of Yuvraj Udayveer and the second child in the royal family of Jaighar. She tries to help her "Dada" when he is need of it. Otherwise, Unatti tries to help others. She dislikes Jaynandini, since she is spoiled but she likes Manyata and is shown to be Manyatas first friend in thre royal palace.She loves both her brother and Manyata immensely and always tries to support both of them. She also had a hand in making Udayveer realize that he is in love with Manyata. Unatti is shown wearing both western and Indian dresses. Unatti is unmarried, and not involved in any kind of relationship otherwise. Maharaj Brijraj Singh Maharaj Brijraj Singh is played by the Indian actor Shahbaz Khan in the show. Maharaj Brijraj Singh is shown as a hot-tempered, ignorant, and strict king. He is the son of Rajmata Mrinalini and the Maharaj of the royal Singh family. He is easily angered and does not like others making decisions for him. Even though he has a hot temper, Brijraj does not defy his mother, and like his younger daughter and older daughter, does not like it when his mother is upset. Brijraj does not have many conversations with his wife, Komal, but turns to her when he has to undertake important decisions. Komal Devi Komal Devi is played by the Indian actress Anita Kulkarni. Komal Devi is shown as a relaxed and kind Maharani. She is the daughter of a Maharaj and belongs to a royal family. She is similar to her mother-in-law in many ways and is not ill-tempered like her husband. Komal has two daughters: Manyata and J. She starts to tear up whenever there is mention of her eldest daughter, Manyata, who was snatched from Komal at the age of three. Komal states that she went into shock after Manyata was taken. The only reason she came out of shock was J, who caused her to start living again. Komal equally loves both her daughters and tends to turn to Rajmata when things get too wild. Recurring characters The following is a list of recurring characters in Dekha Ek Khwaab. Doctor Saab Doctor Saab is played by the Indian actor Kuldeep Malik in the show. Doctor Saab is shown as a responsible and caring doctor. He has black and grey hair, with a thin beard and has a plump figure. Doctor Saab's past, real name, or family is not revealed. He works for Rajmata, who has taken a liking to him because of his work. He is hardworking and tries his best to get every task at hand complete. Doctor Saab helps find and catch Murari so he can locate the lost princess for Rajmata. He is usually seen wearing multi-colored business suits with dark rimmed glasses. Even though he can be trusted, Maharaj Brijraj dislikes Doctor Saab and prefers that he go away. Rajmata counters Brijraj whenever he tries to do so, though. Soni (Sony) Soni is played by an Indian actress in the show. Soni or Sony is shown as a funloving, caring and kind friend. She has black hair, usually braided and is tall with a slender figure. Soni, like Muniya, is financially poor and works as a cleaning lady at the mall to earn salary. Soni is fun to be around, though sometimes her tips lead Muniya to do crazy things. At first, Soni has a crush on Akash but that later ends when Muniya comes along. She usually wears Salwar Kameez like moniya Chikki (Chicky) Chikki is played by an Indian actress in the show. Chikki is shown as a fun, caring and kind friend. She has black hair, in many hairstyles, and is short with a childish face. Chikki, like Soni and Muniya, is financially poor and works as a cleaning lady at the mall to earn salary. Chikki's real name, past or family is not shown or revealed. She is fun to be around and had a crush on Akash like Soni. She usually wears Salwar Kameez like Muniya. Maharaj Giriraj Maharaj Giriraj is played by the Indian actor Amit Behl in the show. Maharaj Giriraj is shown as a devilish, inattentive king. He is bald, with a slender figure. Giriraj belongs to a royal family and is the Maharaj of Jaighar. His family has been friends with the royal Singhs' for a long time. Giriraj does not seem that aware of a lot of events going on in the show. He only appears during important conversations between the two families or discussions with his son, Udayveer. The only thing he is shown to be interested is Devgadh's binding with Jaigarh through marriage which will allow his son to have a single reign over the two states and give ensures the chances of winning the approval from the Mahasabha. Giriraj has two children, Udayveer and Unnati. His unnamed (dead) wife does not make an appearance in the show, nor is she a topic of conversation. Murari Lal Murari is played by the Indian actor Rajesh Jais in the show. Murari is shown as a kind, careful and caring father. Murari's past or family is not revealed and there is no character in the show that is actually related to him. Murari loves his said-to-be daughter, Muniya, and kidnapped her when she was little. He raised Muniya with care and taught her right and good. In attempt to keep Muniya, Murari kept moving from place to place. He used to be the Singh family's watchman, and was heartbroken after Brijraj (while he was drunk) ran a car over his wife and daughter. This is why Murari kidnapped Rajkumari Manyata. When Manyata was bought back to her family, he was sent to prison. Minor characters *Dayal is a man who is a partner of Doctor Saab and helps in finding and catching Murari. He reports his findings, and interesting news to Doctor Saab. *Maalkin is the boss at the place where Murari works. Murari asks her to not reveal his location, though later on, she does. *Kay is one of Jay's friends. She is much like Jay, spoiled and bratty. *Elle is another friend of Jay's friends. She is much like Jay and Kay, spoiled and bratty.
