List of celebrity South Korean military conscripts

Conscription in South Korea, or involuntary military service, is mandatory for all male citizens aged 18 to 35. This is a list of celebrities who have commenced military service.

2005-2007
* So Ji-sub: February 2005 (24 months/2 years) - four weeks of basic training, followed by service as a public relations officer with the Mapo District Office in Seoul. Discharged on 27 April 2007.
* Ji Sung: 7 June 2005 (24 months/2 years) - at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province followed by active duty with the army and designated as public ambassador of military affairs. Discharged on 6 June 2007.
* Seo Ji-seok: 29 May 2007 (21 months) - active duty at the Chuncheon 102 Supplement Unit of the Republic of Korea Army. After 5 weeks basic training, he was assigned to the 12th Infantry Division located in Inje, Gangwon-do and was appointed Honorary Ambassador of Military.
2008
* Kangta: April 2008 (21 months) - active duty. During which time he starred in military musical, Mine about the true life story of Lieutenant Lee Jong-myung, who lost his legs in a land mine explosion near the demilitarized zone, in June 2000, when he saved fellow soldier, Sul Dong-seob from the minefield.
* Yang Dong-geun: May 2008 (21 months) of active duty. During which time he also starred in military musical, Mine.
* Kim Dong-wan of Shinhwa: November 2008 (2 years) - four weeks of basic military training in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do, followed by administrative work at Seodaemun-gu District Office. Discharged on 17 December 2010.
2009
* Lee Jae-won of H.O.T.: 2009 (22 months) - active duty at the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Discharged on 7 March 2011
* Jo In-sung: 7 April 2009 (25 months) - active duty with the Air Force and military band at Osan Air Force headquarters in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. He reportedly wanted to join the Air Force following his father, who served as a non-commissioned officer. Discharged on 4 May 2011.
* Lee Jin-wook: 6 May 2009 (22 months) - reported to the 306th draft in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. Discharged on 7 March 2011 from the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He was discharged on 14 November 2011, after working at the Gangnam Management Corporation, managing the culture center’s fitness club and parking lot.
* Boom: 29 October 2009 (22 months) at a military training center in Gangwon-do Province. He reported to the 102 Replacement Depot in Chuncheon for six weeks of basic training followed by 22 months of active duty. He was discharged on 22 August 2011.
* Lee Ki-woo: 9 November 2009 (22 months) - six weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province, followed by active duty at the Armed Forces Seoul Hospital. He was discharged on 1 September 2011.
2010
* Andy of Shinhwa: 11 January 2010 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training followed by active duty with the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Discharged on 31 October 2011.
* Lee Min-woo of Shinhwa: February 2010 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training followed by service as a public service officer in Seoul Station. Discharged on 2 March 2012.
* Ju Ji-hoon: 2 February 2010 for five weeks of basic training at 306th draft at Uijeongbu of Gyeonggi Province followed by active duty with the reserves forces. In August 2010, Ju co-starred with fellow actor Lee Joon-gi in military musical, Voyage of Life. The musical, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, was co-produced by the Ministry of National Defense and Korea Musical Theatre Association. He was discharged on 21 November 2011.
* Lee Joon-gi: 3 May 2010 (for 21 months) - five weeks of basic training at Nonsan military training camp followed by active duty with the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He had initially applied for a postponement because he was in the midst of shooting film Grand Prix and was cast to star in television drama Faith. However Military Manpower Administration declined and send a final notice for enlistment, leading him to pull out of both projects. He was discharged at 8:00 on 16 February 2012.
* Kim Ji-seok: 24 May 2010 at the Nonsan training center in South Chungcheong Province for five weeks of basic training. Following which he served active duty with the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul; and was discharged in March 2012.
* Lee Dong-gun: 15 June 2010 (21 months) at the 102 Reserves in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do for four weeks of basic training. This was followed by active duty with he Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense, and was appointed Honorary Ambassador of Military.
* Lee Wan: 12 July 2010 (21 months) at the Nonsan military training camp for five weeks of basic training followed by active-duty soldier with the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He was discharged on 23 April 2012.
* Kangin of Super Junior: 5 July 2010 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province, followed by active duty with the Army. He was discharged on 16 April 2012 from the 56th army division in Namyangju-si in Gyeonggi-do.
* Kim Nam-gil: 15 July 2010 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province, followed by non-active duty as a public service worker. He was discharged on 14 July 2012.
* Mithra Jin of Epik High: 3 August 2010 (21 months) - active duty at the 102 reserve in Chuncheon, then served as an infantry rifle soldier, a member of the military band and a GOP soldier, and finally at the Defense Media Agency (DEMA). He was discharged by the Ministry of Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on 14 May 2012.
* Kim Ji-hoon: October 2010 (21 months) - active-duty soldier and was discharged from army base at Yongsan-gu, Seoul on 12 July 2012.
* Kang Dong-won: 18 November 2010 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province, followed by non-active duty as a public service worker at Seoul City Research Institute of Public Health and Environment. He was discharged on 12 November 2012.
* Jung Kyung-ho: 30 November 2010 (21 months) as an active-duty soldier with the 306th draft in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. He was discharged on 4 September 2012.
* Park Hyo-shin: December 2010 (21 months) with the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He was discharged on 24 September 2012.
* Rapper Outsider: December 2010 (21 months) as an active-duty soldier in Wonju, Gangwon Province. He was discharged on 24 September 2012. He was discharged from the Marine Corps Headquarters in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do on 6 December 2012.
* Kim Jae-wook: 5 July 2011 (21 months) - five weeks of basic military training, followed by active duty.
* Heechul of Super Junior: 1 September 2011 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province, followed by service as a public service officer. He was discharged on 30 August 2013.
* Kim Joon of T-max: 29 September 2011 (21 months) - four weeks of basic training, followed by duty as a conscripted policeman.
* Rain: 11 October 2011 (21 months) at the 306th Army draft camp in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do province. In March 2012, Rain was transferred to the Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. In April he was appointed Honorary Ambassador of Military.
* Yoonhak of Supernova: 25 October 2011 (21 months) - at the 306th Reserve in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do province, followed by service as a military music band member.
* Hwanhee of Fly to the Sky: 27 October 2011 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province, followed by service as a public service officer.
* Wheesung: 7 November 2011 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training at Nonsan military camp, South Chungcheong Province followed by active duty.
2012
* Kim Yong-jun of SG Wannabe: 16 February 2012 - four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province.
* of TRAX: 26 March 2012 (24 months) - four weeks of basic military training in Busan and then continued to serve as a public service worker. He is due to be discharged in 2014.
* Lee Joon-hyuk: 19 June 2012 (24 months) - basic training at training camp in the Gyeonggi Province and followed by active duty for two years.
* Kim Kyu-jong of SS501: 23 July 2012 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training at the recruit training center of the 35th division in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province and continue to serve for two years; expected to be discharged in 2014. Kim was originally exempted because he's a hepatitis B carrier, however since a changed in the law he is eligible to serve non-active duty as a public service worker.
* Ji Hyun-woo: 7 August 2012 (21 months) - with the Chuncheon 102nd Reserve Forces. He was due to enlist in July but it was delayed for one month while he recovered from a back injury suffered during the filming of Queen In-hyun's Man.
* Kim Dong-wook: 30 August 2012 (24 months). He underwent five weeks of basic training at a training camp in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province and continued to serve for two years as a riot police for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
* Lee Hyun of 8Eight: 8 October 2012 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training followed by duty as an active soldier.
* Kim "X-Mas" Jung-mo of TRAX: 25 October 2012 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training followed by non-active duty as a public service worker for 23 months. He was originally scheduled to enlist with bandmate but his scoliosis condition and a fractured collarbone delayed his enlistment.
* Leeteuk of Super Junior: 30 October 2012 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training at a training camp in Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province, followed by active duty. He was initially ineligible for active duty following his car crash in 2007 and an aggravated herniated disk, but after receiving treatment he was able to enlist for active duty.
* Rapper Sang-chu of Mighty Mouth: 30 October 2012 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training and continued to serve as an active-duty soldier with the 306th draft in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, where actor Jung Kyung-ho served.
2013
* Lee Seok-hun of SG Wannabe: 22 January 2013 (21 months) for five weeks of basic training followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier with the 306th draft in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.
* Se7en: 19 March 2013 (21 months) at Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province for five weeks of basic training followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier.
* Yoo Seung-ho: 5 March 2013 (21 months) secretly enlisted to Chuncheon, Gangwon-do for five weeks of basic training followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier in 27th Infantry Division. Yoo had previously expressed his desire to secretly enlist to avoid causing an inconvenience to the other men of the armed forces. He was the model soldier and promoted to assistant instructor.
* Yesung of Super Junior: 6 May 2013 (24 months) at Jeonju, North Jeolla Province for four weeks of basic training followed by 23 months as a public service officer.
* Song Joong-ki: 27 August 2013 (21 months) at the 102nd battalion at Chuncheon, Gangwon-do for five weeks of basic training followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier. He was discharged on 26 May 2015.
* Heo Young-Saeng of SS501: 31 October 2013 (21 months) at the Nonsan Training Camp. He performed his basic training at Nonsan Training Camp and served as a conscripted policeman with the Seoul Police. Heo was officially discharged on July 29, 2015.
2014
* Seo Min-woo of : 4 March 2014 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier. He finished his duty on 4 December 2015
* Yoon Shi-yoon: 28 April 2014 (24 months) secretly enlisted into the Marine Corps. Yoon had previously expressed his desire that he wanted to enlist secretly to avoid harming the other soldiers.
2015
* Shindong of Super Junior: Originally 25 November 2014 - Was scheduled to enter the 306th battalion in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggido Province, for five weeks of basic training, followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier but his enlistment was postponed due to treatment for a herniated disc. 24 March 2015 (21 months), Shindong was enlisted at the 28th Infantry Division of Yeoncheon. After his basic training, he was sent to the Third Republic of Korea Army (TROKA) division military band.
* Kim Jaejoong of JYJ: 31 March 2015 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training at the recruits training center in Sinsan-ri, Gwangtan-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi province, followed by 21 months as an active-duty soldier. Jaejoong received Top Honors At Military Recruit Training Center, he received the first place award at his graduation ceremony from a month of basic military training. Jaejoong joined the 55th Infantry Division in Yongin, Gyeonggi province known as the elite division that not only require to be one of 7 best new recruits but to be the first among the best. He is currently in the military band of the division. Expected date of military discharge is on 30 December 2016.
* Sungmin of Super Junior: 31 March 2015 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training at the Incheon Training Center followed by 21 months as an active soldier. Sungmin's completion ceremony took part at the 17th division recruitment training center located in Bucheon, Gyeonggido on May 1. He represented the entire troop of training soldiers of his division after completing the five weeks of basic training. Previously, on the day of his enlistment, Sungmin represented the new recruits reciting the oath and promised to serve the army as a model soldier. After his basic training, he has been placed in the 17th Division Troop military band where he'll play the saxophone. He is expected to be discharged on 30 December 2016.
* Choi Jin-hyuk: 31 March 2015 (7 months) - five weeks of basic training, followed by 6 months an active soldier. Due to a serious knee injury that happened during military training, it is determined that Choi Jin Hyuk needs long-term rehabilitation treatment which makes it difficult for him to serve in the military any longer. He was discharged on 16 October 2015.
* Kim Hyun Joong of SS501: 12 May 2015 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training at Gyeonggido 30th Recruit Training Squadron. During his basic training at the camp he was promoted as Team Leader. As of June 18 he has completed his basic training. Followed by 21 month as an active soldier. Scheduled to fulfill his military Service on 11 February 2017.
*Park Ji-bin: 26 May 2015 - five weeks of basic training, followed by 21 months as an active soldier in the 35th Division at Jeungpyeong County, North Chungcheong Province.
*Jung Yunho of TVXQ: 22 July 2015 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training, followed by 21 months an active soldier. He received five weeks of basic training at Yangju, Gyeonggi Province and was the leader of his squadron. Being awarded the best army recruit, he officially joined the 26th Mechanized Infantry Division on August 27, 2015. He is serving in it for the next 21 months in active duty as part of the military band. On May 9, 2016, He was honoured as Special Warrior which was awarded to only 1% of the entire land force after fulfilling an extremely high standard physical & mental tests. He will be discharged from service on 20 April 2017.
*Park Yoochun of JYJ: 27 August 2015 (24 months) - five weeks of basic training, followed by service as a public service worker due to his asthma problem. Due to discharged on 26 August 2017.
* Ha Minwoo of : 15 September 2015 (21 months)- five weeks of basic training, followed by active duty.
* Choi Daniel: 2 October 2015 - five weeks of basic training, followed by 21 months an active soldier.
* Eunhyuk of Super Junior: 13 October 2015 (21 months) - five weeks of basic training followed by active duty. He will be discharged from service on 12 July 2017. Eunhyuk will be playing the trumpet for the military band stationed in Kangwon-do.
* Lee Donghae of Super Junior: 15 October 2015 (21 months) - four weeks of basic training, followed by an additional three weeks of police training before completing his duty as a conscripted policeman.
* Choi Siwon of Super Junior: 19 November 2015 (21 months) - four weeks of basic training, followed by an additional three weeks of police training before completing his duty as a conscripted policeman. He will be discharged from service on 18 August 2017.
* Shim Changmin of TVXQ: 19 November 2015 (21 months) - four weeks of basic training, followed by an additional three weeks of police training before completing his duty as a conscripted policeman. He will be discharged from service on 18 August 2017.

2016
* Lee Seung-gi: 1 February 2016 (21 months) - active duty, five weeks training at Nonsan Army Recruit Training Center in Chungcheongnam-do. He was the Company Commander Recruit during his training period, and he was awarded the Army Training Chief's Commendation for receiving high scores in military evaluations and becoming a role model to the other recruits. Lee Seung Gi was assigned to Army Special Warfare Command's 13th Airborne Special Forces Brigade (Black Panther) after his training period. He will be discharged from service on October 31, 2017.
* G.O of MBLAQ: 18 February 2016 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training, followed by service as a public service worker due to his narcolepsy disorder. Due to discharged on 17 February 2018.
* Mir of MBLAQ: 14 July 2016 (24 months) - four weeks of basic training, followed by service as a public service worker due to suffering from herniated disk. Due to discharged on 13 July 2018.
* Ryeowook of Super Junior: 11 October 2016 - Though was scheduled for 21 June, but delayed due to Performances in July.
* Seonghun Choi: 13 October 2016 - No details as of yet. Choi "Polt" Seonghun, was a prominent StarCraft 2 pro. Called "Captain America" by many of his fans, due to residing and competing in America for a considerable length of time, and having a large amount of success. Due to the nature of the game, and his mandatory service, he has retired.
* Song Kyung Il of : 8 December 2016 (21 months) After four weeks of of basic training, followed by an additional three weeks of police training before completing his duty as a conscripted policeman. He assigned to police promotional unit, will be discharged from service on September 6, 2018.
2017
* T.O.P of : BIGBANG's T.O.P, whose real name is Choi Seung Hyun, enlisted in the military on February 9 in private and will enlist as conscripted policemen at Seoul Gangnam Police Station of duty as a police officer for 21 months and will be discharged on November 8, 2018.
* Xiah Junsu of JYJ: JYJ's Xiah Junsu, will be enlisting to the Chungnam Nonsan Army Training Center on February 9, go through 4 weeks of basic training and enlist as conscripted policemen, Junsu will be in the promotional unit for the Gyeonggi Southern Police as a police officer for 21 months and will be discharged on November 8, 2018.
