Lapworth House was a residential block in Birmingham. It had 51 flats in it and was 38.4m high. It was built in 1969, it was situated on the St Lukes estate next to Barrow Walk. The land it was on is now heath. On 26 of June 1979 police raided the block as a resident complained that there was a bomb in the building, two teenagers were arrested at the scene however it was soon discovered it was just a firework and the two teenagers were let free. In 2012 it was announced by Birmingham City Council 400 new homes would be built on the site of St Lukes estate creating over 500 jobs in the construction and supply chain industries. Other buildings that were in the estate include: Earlswood House, Barford House, Dunchurch House. The only flat remaining is Wellesbourne Tower which was built a few years after.
