Kryptonite Media Player

Kryptonite Media Player is a planned online media player from Sony Corporation. It is designed to compete with Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe Flash Player.
Development
Damon Finn, Kryptonite's main programmer expressed how tired they were of Flash Video and VC-1 on the internet. Kryptonite is planned to load faster and deliver higher quality video at lower bitrates. To achieve this, they are using the DivX and H.264 video codecs with AAC, MP3 and Linear PCM as the audio codecs. It will use the EVO file type which has been renamed as Evolution.
Testing
So far, one video test has taken place using IE8 which has generated an MHTML file that exceeds 100MB in file size as well as crashing the browser.
Future
George Gibbon, the physics supervisor for Project Kryptonite said that the MVC video format may be used in the future with the ALAC audio codec.
