ClickStreamTV, the product of parent company Digital One Internet Services, is an online media system that enables companies of all types and sizes to deliver high quality streaming video on their websites. ClickStreamTV was developed to provide small and medium businesses a complete solution for video on the web without need for web development knowledge or an IT staff. It is a complete end-to-end system that is built on an open source architecture eliminating the need for customers to have to change their online video delivery system every time a new technology comes along. The product implements streaming video On Demand, Live, Pay-Per-View and Video Email, all from the same video player using Content Delivery Network (CDN) services for high quality streams.
History
Digital One Internet Services, Inc. is a streaming media company based in Orland Park, Illinois. Founded in 1998 by Rick Andrew, Kevin Yahl and , Digital One intended to create affordable broadcasting solutions on the internet to promote local online TV and radio programming though online video. Rick Andrew suggested to turn the broadcasting service into a product, which eventually led to the creation of ClickStreamTV. Today, Digital One offers a turn-key streaming media solution that provides small to medium businesses the ability to put video on their website through a customizable interface (video player).
Technology
A founding principal for ClickStreamTV is to provide users with a simple system that any person can use, regardless of their knowledge of technology. ClickStreamTV's multifaceted system was built to ensure ease of use for the user.
System
*The ClickStreamTV system is built with open source architecture using languages such as HTML, SQL, Perl, PHP, Java Script and AJAX instead of soley using the commonly used Adobe Flash or Silverlight Based Programming that is closed, proprietary Adobe and Microsoft framework. This means that when new technologies emerge, ClickStreamTV is able to adapt to work with them. Users of ClickStreamTV never have to replace their video system as technology expands and grows in order for it to work with another streaming system.
Speed and System Wizard
*ClickStreamTV's Speed and System Wizard is a compatibility test that checks the browser, operating system, plug-ins and connection speed of the viewer. It then delivers the appropriate media file type and bit rate to provide high-quality, streaming video to the viewer's system. ClickStreamTV houses and delivers video at all bit rates and media type files, including Flash, Windows, etc.
Platform Neutral Delivery System
*Operating on a platform neutral delivery system, ClickStreamTV is able to deliver the appropriate media file after the Speed and System Wizard determines what platform the viewer is using. The system is compatible with multiple platforms, meaning video will stream to whatever platform device the viewer is using, including Macs, PCs, BlackBerry's, iPads, iTouches, and iPhones. This allows viewers to watch video regardless of their system.
Interface (Video Player)
*The ClickStreamTV interface (video player) launches over an existing website , on multiple sites or pages within any website through link insertion. The interface serves as a central location for housing all video content and is customizable providing customers with branding opportunities through integration of their logo, marketing message, PDFs and links. In addition, the interface allows viewers are able to navigate other video selections within the interface while they are watching another video. Both On Demand and Live streaming video are capable on the same, single interface.
File transferring and encoding
*Video files may be transferred from the users computer to the private, secure server for the ClickStreamTV system. The system will automatically convert the original to the desired format(s) (as determined by the Speed and System Wizard) to deliver the video to the interface (video player). The automated encoding technology is also able to process uploaded video in one file type into various formats, including Flash, Windows Media, Mobile, etc.

Self Provisioning
*ClickstreamTV can be self provisioned, which means that customers can automatically enroll for ClickStreamTV online, design their video player, integrate video on to their website, manage their video content and stream video on demand or live without any technical expertise. ClickStreamTV self provisioning removes the sign-up hassles for resellers, taking away the middle-man, and allows customers to self provision ClickStreamTV from the company’s website.
On Demand, Live and Pay Per View
*ClickStreamTV provides streaming video On Demand, Live and Pay Per View. Viewers may watch seamless video whenever they want or as it happens. Customers of ClickStreamTV also has the profitable option to charge viewers to watch their video content through a paid per video access or paid subscription access from their interface.
Video Email and Address Book
*ClickStreamTV has a complete email system and address book functionality for videos to be delivered in custom branded email template(s) with the ability to include text, links, and attach .pdf files. Customers have the capacity to send unlimited video emails to an unlimited number of recipients.
Secure Login
*The secure login feature is an optional feature of the ClickStreamTV system and allows for restricted access to the interface (video player) with a username and password.
Statistics Analysis Tool
*The Statistics Analysis Tool keeps track of individual video and video email information, measuring which videos are viewed, duration watched, which video emails are opened by recipients and which ones opened them.
Media Control Center
*ClickStreamTV's Media Control Center is the centralized location with the tools needed to manage video, video playlists, encoding, video emails and monitor statistics. An unlimited amount of video may be put in the video library and can be categorized through video channels and playlists. Included is the linking code generator, which creates links that may be placed on any HTML page to launch a specific playlist. The Media Control Center also includes an automatic public publisher of video content and a tools to create an RSS Feed.
CDN Aggregation
*Using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) is an efficient way to stream high quality video, but can be expensive and many companies cannot afford it. ClickStreamTV aggregates CDN bandwidth, allowing small companies to leverage price and network resources. ClickStreamTV can use an unlimited amount of CDN’s within the system framework to deliver content. Also, if one CDN network is unavailable or has technical problems, ClickStreamTV can switch over to another CDN with the CSTV system to ensure uninterrupted digital media delivery to all customers.
*ClickStreamTV recently partnered with EdgeCast Networks to improve their CDN functionality.
*Due to Flash licensing fees, it costs more for CDNs to deliver Flash formatted video versus Windows Media formatted video. The ClickStreamTV system will naturally select Windows format to deliver video if the viewer has Windows Media, reducing the cost factor for the CDN because Windows is cheaper to deliver. ClickStreamTV eliminates high costs by streaming 2/3 Windows format over Flash through this natural selection process.
