KRU Records was formed in June 1996 by singer, songwriter and producer - Norman, Yusry and Edry Abdul Halim popularly known as KRU.
Specializing in Pop, Dance, R&B and Hip hop music genres; KRU Records is one of the most influential and successful Malaysian independent label in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei to date. The first artiste signed to KRU Records was a five member girl pop group named as Elite. Other artistes signed to KRU Records throughout the years are Indigo, X Factor, Juliana Banos, Dr Kronik, Pretty Ugly, Ezlynn, Phyne Ballerz, Billy Zulkarnain, Trez, Anita Sarawak, Rabbani, Adam, Dafi, The Lima, Mendua, Pianka and Flava. In 2008, all the business entities owned by KRU were consolidated under one company named as KRU Studios.
