Kevin Jack

Kevin Jerrod Jack (born November 5, 1988) is an American hip hop artist and songwriter. Jack debuted in 2005 under the Austin Music Foundation's Incubator Program, which consisted of 18 months of mentorship and a $15,000 grant to create and market an independent project. After a successful performance at the 2005 Austin City Limits Music Festival, Jack began to garner an online following. Jack took an eight month hiatus from making music after the death of his father in October 2005. The release of his album was pushed back several times due to the circumstance, but in February 2008 Jack released his debut Album entitled "Campaign 4 Change".
Biography
Early life
Jack was born in Houston. While in high school, Jack and a classmate formed the JLH Project, a rap collective which performed in talent shows around town. Jack broke away from the group upon his acceptance to the University of Texas at Austin to study Communications.
Career
In March 2008 Jack was selected as a Grand Prize Winner for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and was a finalist for the Maxwell Song of the Year for his song "Dreaming of Darfur", a song dedicated to the conflict in Sudan. In 2009 Jack began writing songs for other artists as well as having his compositions featured in TV and Film. To date he has placed songs on The CW series Hellcats, MTV teen reality drama Taking The Stage, VH1's Hip Hop Wives, Chad Ochocinco and Terrel Owens' T. Ocho Show on the Network, and has composed Fox Sports Net's television promo for the NBA Franchise the LA Clippers.
Through 2010 Jack toured with J. Cole on The J. Cole Texas Tour, as well with , Pac Div, , and Drastik on The LRG Home Grown Tour.
In addition to his solo and songwriting efforts, Jack is also a member of Pop/ Electro Hop Duo L.A.T.A. (Lady And the Amp). In early 2011, the group garnered coverage on numerous blogs both in the U.S. and internationally and gained a buzz from being featured on The Hype Machine.The duo made appearances with Big Sean, Mickey Factz, and FreeSol on select dates of the What U Doin College tour, and also opened for Pop darling Dev.
