Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club

The Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club is a cricket club based in Nairobi at the Nairobi Club Ground. It participates in the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association leagues. The club was established in 1927. It has the penchant for producing many of the most talented cricketers and future prospects of the country. These include Rajesh Bhudia, Rakep Patel, Dominic Wesonga, Alex Obanda, one of the greatest future prospects of the country, Seren Waters, Duncan Allan, Kennedy Otieno, Shem Ngoche, Elijah Otieno, etc.
Club History
The club was formed in 1927, and it was known as the "Kenya Gentleman" Club then. Founded by HB Emley, the then Cheif Mechanical Engineer of the Kenya Uganda Railways and Harbours. They played their first match against the Railway Indian Institute in 1928.
In 1929, the team toured Mombasa and on their first coastal tour (Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam). The team toured the Midlands but was later discounted. As the team became more and more popular and prominent, its number of tours increased and they played more matches in the 1930s.
Sir Godfrey Rhodes became president in 1941 and Cliff Brambridge took the role temporarily when Rhodes left Kenya. P. de V. Allen was elected in 1943 and when he retired, JD Melhuish took over the role in 1946.
During the war, fixture havoc also occured, but the Kongonis cricket club faced many brilliant sides for example South African and English teams, in the period which was described as the golden age of "Kenyan Cricket".
From this early foundations, Kongonis grew into a brilliant club producing many players who went on to represent Kenya at international level.

It has been one of the most successfull of the Nairobi clubs and have won many regional tournaments, with its rivalry against Buffaloes being very intense.

It participates in the KKCC Nairobi Fixtures, East African Cup, East African Premier League, etc.
