KBCH TV originated broadcasting in 2009 as a student project emanating from Huntington Beach, California. The station produces national news, sports, and weather telecasts on a weekly basis, and on newsworthy occasions. The student operated studios of KBCH TV are 6.67 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The broadcast facility is housed within the Academy of Radio and Television Broadcasting, a state of California and federally accredited post secondary educational facility. As that there was no federally licensed TV facility using the Federal Communications Commission registered call sign of "KBCH", the students of instructor Timothy Greenwood's night class chose the letters as a logical choice should the city of Huntington Beach, California be granted a terrestrial broadcast license for the station. |
