Katimavik Elementary School

Katimavik Elementary opened in 1981 as an elementary school, located in the Katimavik area of Kanata, a Suburb of Ottawa. Two additions have been added, with the second being added in 1984 to accommodate the intermediate students.
The school has installed 12 portables between the years of around 2000 and 2010, due to rising student population (about a 400% increase since 1985).
With an enrollment of over 800 in 2010, Katimavik accommodates students from junior kindergarten for 4 years of age, to grade 8 in early and middle French immersion programs. The school is currently 200% over the facility's capability.
Volleyball at Katimavik
The Katimavik Elementary School's volleyball teams are also very strong, with both the boys and girls intermediate teams finishing first in their regions, and second at boards in the 2010-2011 season. Both teams lost to their close competitors; Glashan Public School (http://www.glashanps.ocdsb.ca/Glashan/Welcome.html). The boys team also came first in the "Boys Cedarview Invitational Tournament". The girls placed second in the "Girls Cedarview Invitational Tournament", right behind Glashan. Katimavik's volleyball success is 100% due to coach Stephan Bédard, who's devotion to the two teams lead them to their success during their season.
