History
The Addison on Amelia Island, a historic Victorian home was built in 1876 and was originally a private home for Frank Simmons, a local merchant. The building has undergone several renovations, but the owners have tried to maintain the integrity of the original architectural style. The Inn is located in the center the Fernandina Beach Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
The Locale
Visitors of the area can choose from a variety of attractions including horseback riding on the beach, hiking, biking, and Eco-tours. The bed and breakfast is located in the Fernandina Beach Historic District and just a short walk to numerous restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and a short bicycle ride to fourteen miles of white sand beaches.
