Kadoo

Kadoo is a unique web service that gives people 10GB of free space to upload photos, videos, files, or whatever else they want to and very granular security to decide who sees what.

Origins
Kadoo was started by the same people that created Blackboard (NYSE: bbbb). Dan Cane was the creator of Course Info , which went on to become Blackboard; CEO Chris Etesse an early Blackboard employee. Kadoo Chairman of the Board Michael Chasen remains CEO of Blackboard. During his time at Blackboard Dan Cane realized that the functional sharing components of Blackboard have appeal beyond the classroom setting and left to begin Kadoo. The founding board are recognized world leaders in educational-based sharing software; their prior company changed the world and has gone on to great success.

While many websites allow people to upload and share material on the web, Kadoo's 10GB capacity, combined with its tight file permission scheme, sets the site apart from most others. People can share digital assets with just one person, specific people, or entire groups, and retain control over their file space in the cloud.

Launch
Kadoo launched at DEMO Fall 2008, the DEMO conference that was held the same week as the Tech Crunch 50 conference with a similar theme. Despite a press focus more on the business behind the conferences rather than the companies launching at them Kadoo was widely praised. Kadoo has gone on to grow at a sustainable clip.

Affiliate Program
Kadoo has a unique affiliate program; different than most others. Websites that want to allow photo, video, or file sharing -- but don't want to invest in the infrastructure or cost to support the sharing -- can sign up with Kadoo and instantly enable branded sharing websites. Not only is there no cost, but Kadoo will share advertising revenue with the partner.
