K-1 World Grand Prix 2002 Preliminary Marseilles

K-1 World Grand Prix 2002 Preliminary Marseilles was a kickboxing event promoted by the K-1 organization. It was a preliminary qualifying tournament for the K-1 World Grand Prix 2002 and involved ten fighters (two being reservists) based in France and Europe, with all bouts being fought under K-1 Rules (100 kg/156-220 lbs). As well as tournament bouts there were also a number of 'Super Fights', fought under kickboxing rules. In total there were sixteen fighters at the event, representing six countries. The tournament winner was Gregory Tony who defeated Azem Maksutaj in the final by third round majority decision. As a result of his victory Gregory Tony would qualify for the K-1 World Grand Prix 2002 in Las Vegas. The event was held at Palais des Sports in Marseille, France, on Friday, January 25, 2002.
