K-1 Italy Oktagon 2008

K-1 Italy Oktagon 2008 was a kickboxing event promoted by the K-1 organization. It was an elimination tournament involving ten fighters (two being reservists) based in Italy and Europe with all bouts fought under K-1 Rules (75 kg/165 lb). The tournament had originally been for heavyweights but due to various factors was changed to the 75 kg weight class. As well as tournament matches there was also a women's bout fought under Kickboxing Rules and several 'Super Fights' fought under K-1 MAX Rules (70 kg/152 lb) with the pick of the bouts involving Mikel Colaj against local superstar Giorgio Petrosyan. In total there were eighteen fighters at the event, representing ten countries. The tournament winner was Murthel Groenhart who defeated Halim Issaoui in the final by way of second round knockout. The event was held at the Palalido di Milano in Milan, Italy on Saturday, April 12, 2008.
