Jungle Traffic

Jungle Traffic is an Australian hip hop/roots based three-piece from Brisbane, Australia. The group is comprised of GC Jungle (MC), Zan Traffic (MC, harmonica) and The Wolf (guitar, vocals, piano) and is independently produced under their own label Jungle Lifestyles. Their focus is on merging the two styles of Hip hop and Roots music into a new sound called Lounge Hop, something you can bounce to and something you can lounge to. It is reflective of what they believe Australian hip hop represents; sunshine, blues skies and roots & reflection.

History

They formed from the Attic Sessions in Brisbane back in late 2005 and have since shared an interest in experimental Hip hop. Through these jam sessions emerged a style combining smooth Hip hop beats and acoustic based Roots music. In late 2006 the group teamed up with Brisbane producer Samsonite, from local group The Optimen, and began work on a debut EP. By 2007 the group had written enough material and decided to expand the EP to an LP. In early 2007 Samsonite independently opened Space Ghost Studios in Fortitude Valley and the group began production of their debut album Freedom Town. The album is due for release in early 2008.

They site influences such as The Herd, Michael Franti, Immortal Technique, Rage Against The Machine, Hilltop Hoods, Sigur Ros, Fela Kuti, Pegz, Muph and Plutonic, Downsyde and the . The spread of influences across genres has led to a collaborative when writing for Freedom Town.

The name Jungle Traffic is a symbol of the contrasts, contradictions and conflicts that everyone experiences in their lives. This idea has been reflected in the lyrics of most tracks on Freedom Town. It is a refelction of the two-sides to every tale.
