Jumaatun Azmi is the founder and managing director of KasehDia, a company involved in the communication, consulting and retail sectors. She is particularly interested in the application of Islamic values in a universal and contemporary setting. Under her leadership, KasehDia has created global forums and media products as well as provided strategic consultations for businesses and governments. Azmi’s initiatives have been featured on the cover of TIME magazine and in The New York Times, Asia Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, Forbes, Guardian UK, Bloomberg and The Economist among others. KasehDia Under Azmi’s leadership, KasehDia became the world pioneer in concept-based (halal) communication and developmental systems. In 2003 it launched an integrated global initiative on the ‘halal industry’ which it coined. It involves strategic projects in publishing, TV production, consultancy, training, business forums and lobby efforts on the global scale. Key Halal Initiatives: The Halal Journal, Halal Food Guide Series,Muslim Travel Guide Series, World Halal Forum Global Initiatives, Global Halal Lead Auditor Training and consultation for the Government of Malaysia for the Halal Chapter in Malaysia's 3rd Industrial Master Plan (2006-2020). KasehDia’s next key project is trading of halal ingredients and products. Retail: KasehDia owns Rumi & Kohl which showcases home décor, art, furniture and fashion inspired by the rich global Muslim cultures. KasehDia’s up-and-coming brand is Originals which involves retail, distribution and branded media platforms for natural, eco and wholesome products. Media KasehDia is working on an Islamic values-based channel for TV, mobile and radio. Currently KasehDia Entertainment is involved in television and film production as well as music festival series based on good values. Its debut film “HAQ” won the Best Screenplay Award at the 23rd Malaysian Film Festival. Its next film is entitled “Dari Kerana Mata”. Since 2011 Azmi has been an executive board member of SalamWorld, a social media project for the Muslim world headed by Russian Abdul-Vakhed Niyazov As a journalist for The New Straits Times from 1998 to 2002, Azmi wrote on general news, economy, politics and travel.
