Bad Pony Media Ltd/Bad Pony Television is a Scotland-based independent production company located in the G1 area of Glasgow. The company, headed by executive producers Michelle Martin and Frank McGowan, specialises in creative content for broadcast television and online. Projects currently in development include series drama Ninety Eight Percent, magazine-style make-over and dating show All Dolled Up, and feature film Evening of the Dead. Company history Established in 2008 as Bad Pony Productions, the company in its infancy produced a number of award-winning short films and pilots for television, the most notable being the 2008 pilot for their gritty Ninety Eight Percent series starring Emma Ashby as lesbian gangster "Casey Spencer". The pilot also starred Vivien Louise Taylor, Hannah Tiffin and Jordan McCurrach, who all reprise their roles - as "Jenny", "Chelsea" and "Mark" - in the series currently being produced. Ashby was unable to reprise her role due to commitments to another project. The company has grown significantly since its conception, and its producers have received notable kudos, industry praise and support for their efforts in championing new Scottish talent, both in front of and behind the camera. 1st Assistant Director/Producer Maureen Somerville was recently nominated for Television Freelancer of the Year, in the inaugural Production Base awards, 2010. In May 2010, Bad Pony Media withdrew their short film The Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Film-maker from the worldwide 48 Hour Film Festival awards and festival (the company were award winners two years in a row, 2008-2010) to develop the concept and characters as a series. The decision was supported by the festival judges, and the film was re-packaged as a crude television pilot. The pilot stars Mandy Edgar, Kim Hughes, Jen Dempster, Alex McPhail, Joe Thompson and Daniel Campbell, and the series is currently in development for 2012. The series is the creation of Scottish writer Michelle Martin, who is also the creator of the Ninety Eight Percent series. In October 2010, Bad Pony Media's executive producers announced development of the Bad Pony TV platform, which is currently being developed by the Scottish Centre for Enabling Technologies. The producers also announced development of over 30 new shows across all genres for the platform 2010-2012, including the long-awaited full series of Ninety Eight Percent (9eps, 1hour).
