Joseph Rye

Joseph Rye is a British actor in theatre, films and television.
Biography
In the late 1980s Rye attended the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in Wood Green, North London.
Career
Theatre
As a stage actor Rye has appeared in numerous theatrical productions. His stage career began with roles in two musicals, Forever Eve at the Shaw Theatre, London, in 1989, and Viva España (winner of Fringe First Best Musical Award) in 1990 at the White Bear Theatre, London. In 1991 he appeared in a production of The High Lady B for Traffic of the Stage Theatre Company and in 1997 he made his American debut in the inaugural production at the Lillian Theatre, Los Angeles, playing the role of Wilson in The Ruffian on the Stair by Joe Orton. In 1999 he performed once again at the White Bear Theatre in the play Myopia. In 2003, he played the role of Macduff in Macbeth at Stafford Castle (part of Stafford Gatehouse Theatre), and in 2005 he understudied the roles of Bernard, Howard and Stanley in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman at the Lyric Theatre, London, starring Brain Dennehy and Clare Higgins. In 2006 he played Thomas Wyvern in the historical Irish drama Blackwater Angel presented at The Finborough Theatre London and in 2007 he played the role of Dennis in Loot by Joe Orton for A Noise Within Theatre Company in Los Angeles. In 2008 he appeared at the Theatre Royal, York, once again in a production of Death of a Salesman, but this time playing the pivotal role of Biff Loman. In 2010 he performed a staged reading of poems by Rumanian romantic poet Mihail Eminescu entitled Hyperion, performed at the Maidment Theatre’s, Musgrove Studio in Auckland. In 2011 he appeared in Peter Shaffer’s The Public Eye at the Jack Studio in Brockley, London, playing the role of Julian Cristoforou, a production staged by New Zealand based theatre company Potent Pause.
Television
Rye's television credits include Eastenders, Casualty, Midsomer Murders, Holby City, The Bill, and Judge John Deed. American television credits include All American Girl, Nash Bridges, High Incident, Conan the Adventurer, Fame LA and CSI:New York.
Film
Rye made his film debut in 1997, in the independent feature entitled Born to Lose, playing the lead role of Stevie Monroe, the drug-addicted lead singer of a Southern Californian punk band. In 2000 he had roles in the films Living in Hope and Lovelife and in 2001 he played the part of Warden Walker in Mean Machine. In 2004 he played the role of Joe Connors in the film Alien Versus Predator and also appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. In 2005 he played the role of Jones in V for Vendetta and Dr Clark in Life Is Hot in Cracktown.
