Jordan French is the cofounder and CEO of Wiki-PR, a consulting firm which was established in 2010 and specialized in marketing its ability to edit . He holds an engineering degree from Vanderbilt University, a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, is licensed as a lawyer in New York and Massachusetts, and currently resides in Austin, Texas. All users editing on behalf of the company were banned from in 2013 after it came to light that one user hired by the company had engaged in extensive sockpuppetry in violation of 's policy on the use of multiple accounts, with hundreds of suspected socks banned, and that the company had violated 's policies on paid editing. Additionally, the Wikimedia Foundation sent a cease-and-desist letter to French on November 19 of that year, in which they stated that "...agent(s) of your company have engaged in sockpuppetry or meatpuppetry to, among other things, make it appear as if certain articles are written by unbiased sources when in fact those articles are authored by Wiki-PR for money." In response to the letter, French told the media that he was working with the Wikimedia Foundation to try to sort the issue out. French has since contended that his company has been treated unfairly and did not violate any of 's policies, saying, “Our primary goal is to improve ," and that "What we do is get to enforce the rules so our clients are presented accurately."
