John T. Fees

John Fees is an entrepreneur and business leader who from 1999-2006, Fees, served as co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Y2M: Youth Media and Marketing Networks. Y2M owned and operated College Publisher, the nation’s largest online network of college newspapers serving more than 600 colleges and universities, over 2 million subscribers and 120 national advertisers. In 2004, Fees and Tom Peterson led the discussions for Y2M to became the exclusive independent sales organization representing Facebook. The agreement signed by Facebook Founders, Eduardo Saverin, and amended by Mark Zuckerberg and Sean Parker, generated the first advertising income for Facebook. According to Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, Eduardo Saverin in June 2004, executed the agreement. Fees led the successful media business through August 2006, when he completed the sale of Y2M to Viacom’s MTV Networks. Y2M was the first company in North America to create a national university media network with commercial rights to print, online and email editions.
In 2008, Fees co-founded and became CEO of Next Generation Insurance Group. With co-founder Bill Suneson, Fees is credited with creating GradGuard, the first nationally available form of tuition insurance which is created as a membership benefit of College Parents of America . Fees and Suneson are recognized leaders in creating tuition insurance and mitigating the financial risks of the over $400 Billion that is invested annually by 19 million college students and their families.
PERSONAL
Fees is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he received a bachelors of science degree in History and also a graduate of Harvard Business School where he completed a Masters in Business Administration. John Fees lives in Phoenix, Arizona and is married to Melissa Soza Fees, Ph.D.. and is the father of five children. He is also a board member of The Foundation for Blind Children and The Spitzer Center for Ethics.
