Nick Nanton

Nicholas David "Nick" Nanton (born January 16, 1980 in Barbados), known as "The Celebrity Lawyer," is an attorney, entrepreneur, marketer, music producer, author and songwriter based in Orlando, Florida. He is the Managing Partner of Dicks and Nanton P.A.: The Business Growth Lawyers, a boutique law firm with a branding focus for clients and their businesses; the CEO of The Celebrity Branding Agency, which is an international franchisor of Media, Marketing and Public Relations agencies that brand entrepreneurs as celebrities in their business niches in order to enable clients to grow profits and expand their business; the Founder and Chairman of the Board of CelebritySites.com, a company that develops web sites and online visibility for its clients; and a Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Kennedy's All-American Barber Club, a barber shop franchise whose investors include marketer Dan Kennedy. Nanton has also authored several marketing books, and is an award-winning composer/songwriter/music producer.
Early Life and Education
Nanton was born in Barbados and moved to the United States with his family when he was 10 months old. He became an American citizen in 1987. Nanton graduated from Lake Mary High School in 1998 and received a B.S. in Finance in 2001 from the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida. He then attended the Fredric G. Levin College of Law, also at the University of Florida, where he graduated in 2004 with a Juris Doctorate Degree. While at the University of Florida, Nanton was the Vice Chairman of the Accent Speakers Bureau as well as the Director of the Year for Homecoming in 2000. Nanton was also the talent producer of the school's biggest student-run pep rally, Gator Growl, in 2002, bringing Bill Cosby to the event and attracting a capacity crowd of 58,403.
As Attorney and Entrepreneur
Nanton works with CEOs, Professionals and Entrepreneurs to establish them as leading figures in their field and increase their business celebrity status through "Celebrity Branding," a patent-pending process of using a mix of websites, video, audio, national media and other online and offline media to build clients' credibility. In 2008, Nanton launched "America's PremierExperts" to further showcase his clients, featuring them in an "America's PremierExperts" television interview program, as well as The Next Big Thing, a radio program and podcast available for download on iTunes. He has been interviewed by the New York Times for his expertise in business branding and growth strategies.
In 2008, Nanton and partner J.W. Dicks, Esq. co-wrote, Celebrity Branding You, which explains the "Celebrity Branding" business concept and lays out the process for business owners to follow. The book was a Amazon #1 best-seller in the "Communications," "Entrepreneurship" and "Expert Systems" categories.
Nanton has been voted "Best of the Bar 2007" by his peers as published by the Orlando Business Journal and is a member of the Florida Bar, the Orange Country Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Nanton has also served on the Executive Council of the Florida Bar's Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section and was also the Chairman of the Orange County Bar Association's Entertainment Law Section.
Work in the Music Industry
Nanton has worked extensively in the music industry as a songwriter, engineer and producer. He is also the attorney for Fuel Records and Bonded Records, as well as the groups A Day to Remember and The Black Rabbits, and country singer Johnny Bulford, named "Best New Act in Country Music" at the 2009 Colgate Country Showdown, held in Nashville. Nanton owns the music publishing company, We Are the Boys Publishing, registered with BMI. He also was producer/engineer, as well as composed songs for group Longwood's CD "White Bread." "Daddy's Little Girl," a song Nanton co-wrote and produced for the album, was the Grand Prize winner in the 2004 Windrift International Songwriting Contest. Nanton is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences or NARAS, which presents the annual Grammy awards and has been consulted by the media for his opinions on musical trends.
He also was the producer/engineer of "I Won't Give Up: Songs to Benefit STOP Children's Cancer" (2003, a CD with performances from three-time Grammy winner Ronny Cates of the band Petra, and multi-platinum recording artist Ken Block of Sister Hazel, among other national acts. The title song, "I Won't Give Up," which Nanton produced and co-wrote with cancer survivor Hanna Peterson, then 12 years old, was featured in the American Cancer Society's promotional video, "Reaching Out To Cancer Kids" in 2008 and was chosen to lead off the Susan G. Komen Revlon Run Walk for Women in New York City in 2004.
Nanton serves as the Chairman of Loud Entertainment LLC, an artist development and music management firm founded in 2002. In 2003, he founded Muzik101.com, an online music store for independent musicians, that was sold in 2005 to www.TheConnextion.com and he was also hired on as CEO of Cinemark Music Group, LLC, a subsidiary of Cinemark USA Inc., one of the largest motion picture exhibitors in North America. Also in 2003, Nanton assisted founder Brian Mencher with producing the first Music Law Conference, a legal summit designed to deal with issues of law and music, which is held annually at the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. Nanton has served on the advisory board since its inception and regularly acts as panelist at the conference.
Nanton also directed and produced the music videos "Spin," performed by Michael J., and "I'll Be Gone," performed by Longwood.
