John Machado is a Black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He is a former jiu-jitsu world, national, and state champion, and a two-time Pan American Games sambo champion. Machado also won many Judo tournaments as a white belt. He is also an aspiring actor, having appeared in numerous movie and television roles. Biography John is the oldest of the five Machado brothers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began his training over 30 years ago with them and his cousins, the Gracie family and received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Jr.. He dominated the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu circuit, winning every major competitive title from 1982 to 1990. In 1990 he also graduated from Rio Federal College receiving a degree in Environmental Farming. After graduating, he competed three years later at the Pan American Games in sambo competitions, becoming champion two consecutive years: 1993 and 1994. John has had numerous movie and television roles such as "The Ropes" Vin Diesel's new TV series at FOX(2012), Alienated (2011), Duel of Legends (2011), Redbelt (2014), Brazilian Brawl (2009), Mean Guns (1997), Heatseeker (1995), Kickboxer 4: The Aggressor (1994), and Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995). John also had a role in the television series Walker Texas Ranger, as himself. John produced and starred in the Brazilian Brawl. The following people were cast in his film: martial arts legend Dan Inosanto, acclaimed actor Geoffrey Lewis, musician Rikki Rockett and brothers Carlos Machado, Jean Jacques Machado, Rigan Machado, and Roger Machado. At the 2012 San Diego Comic Con Superhero Kung Fu Extravaganza hosted by Ric Meyers, transmedia artist Jan Lucanus announced that John has been cast to portray the character "Raam" in the upcoming live action feature film based on the mixed martial arts comic book series JFH: Justice For Hire. John has also developed his own comic book property with Jan Lucanus and creator Chadwick Coleman, Faixa Preta: The Black Belt, from Creative Impulse Publishing. The story is set in the near-future in the post-civil war city of Novo Rio, Brazil, following a young martial artist with intuitive powers seeking to unite his war-torn country. In addition to private seminars, John currently teaches at his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Allen, Texas.
