John Glenn Middle School of International Studies, or known more commonly as JGMS (John Glenn Middle School) is a middle school in Indio, California which was established in the fall of 2001. They are ranked among the 100 best public schools in California (the California Distinguished Schools of Academic Achievement title) for above-average academic performance in the years 2003 to 2006. They are part of the Desert Sands Unified School District in the eastern Coachella Valley. Most of their student body resides in the Northern half of La Quinta, parts of western Indio and eastern Palm Desert. Students residing in the area can also attend Indio Middle School and Colonel Mitchell Paige Middle School. The school body is remarkably diverse in race, ethnicity and income. Most of the students will attend but some attend Indio High School and Palm Desert High School depending on the students' and parents' choice of high school, as La Quinta is located in the middle of the Desert Sands district. La Quinta High is a 1/4 mile down the school, while the middle school sits adjacent to Amelia Earhart Elementary School, the main feeder of John Glenn's 6th-8th grade students. See Also
