Rincon Valley Middle School

Rincon Valley Middle School is a public middle school in Santa Rosa, California. The school has a student body of 842 students, the largest student body of any middle school in Santa Rosa. It is located in the neighborhood of Rincon Valley and is part of Santa Rosa City Schools, serving students of eastern Santa Rosa. RVMS feeds into Maria Carrillo High School.
RVMS was recognized by the Department of Education as a California Distinguished School in 2007.
Student body
Its student body comprises 842 students. 418 students are enrolled in the 7th grade, and 421 students are in the 8th grade. It is 63% Caucasian, 19% Hispanic, 9% Asian/Filipino, 1.4% African American, 0.6% Pacific Islander, and 7% "other." 19% of the student body is socioeconomically disadvantaged, compared to 48% of students who are socioeconomically disadvantaged in Santa Rosa public middle and high schools overall.
Test scores
In 2011, 82% of students performed proficient and above on the English language portion of the STAR test. 78% scored proficient or above on mathematics, 89% on science, and 70% on history and social science. Rincon Valley Middle School has an API rank of 10, meaning that the school scores within the 90th percentile range of all California public middle schools.
