John Christian Scott

John Scott (born May 21, 1975, Stavanger, Norway) is a Norwegian entrepreneur and a Actor.
Biography
John Scott was born in Stavanger and moved with his parents to Oslo at the age of 1. At the age of 7 his family moved to Houston, Texas, followed by Hong Kong in 1985, the UK in 1986 and finally returning to Norway in 1987.
John returned to the UK in 1994 to study at Imperial College, London, graduating in 1998 with honours and a masters degree. After graduating John worked for a number of financial institutions in the City, before setting up his own IT consultancy in 2005. In 2010 he stopped consulting to work full time on Voyage Manager.
Entrepreneurial Drive
John was in Sri Lanka when the 2004 Asian Tsunami hit . He was fortunate to be on higher grounds when the event occurred, but he had been on a beach that had been devastated by the tsunami only a day earlier. One thing he noticed was that everyone, friends and family, all wanted know that he was safe. This drove him to develop ShoutSafe, a free travel and disaster notification service.
In 2008 he started developing Voyage Manager, an advanced, business oriented travel tracking service, based on his experiences from setting up ShoutSafe.
Personal Life
As an active sportsman, John has competed in sports as diverse a downhill skiing, soccer and ballroom dancing. At university he helped his dance team win the national championships two years running. He has also been an actor in two movies, Another Life and Lucky Jim.
