Goran Lozo

Goran Lozo (born January 4, 1965) is a retired Yugoslav professional karate fighter, retired executive protection professional, strength and conditioning coach, life coach, motivational speaker, and radio personality. He was Yugoslav karate champion in WUKO, ITKF, and JKA federations. Between 1993 and 1997 he competed in four European and three World Championships as a member of Yugoslav ITKF National Karate Team and Yugoslavian JKA National Karate Team. As an executive protection agent he provided protection to corporate executives and politicians in former Yugoslavia including Mr. Vuk Draskovic, a leading opposition figure to Serbian strong-man Slobodan Milosevic.
Lozo's life story was a subject of TV Belgrade's documentary film The Saga on Samurai & the Mud (1992) by director Vladimir Perovic The Saga on Samurai & the Mud was shown on multiple international festivals of documentary film and has won multiple awards.
He and his family moved to the USA in 2000. Based on his sports achievements he was recognized by the US Citizenship and Immigration services as an Alien of Extraordinary Abilities and Achievements.
Biography
Lozo is native of Belgrade, Serbia (in former Yugoslavia). He came to prominence in 1986 when he became karate champion of former Yugoslavia (under 21) at the time when Yugoslavia was considered karate superpower. Lozo went on winning multiple national and international championships and he officially retired from karate competition in 2001. Parallel with his sports career, Lozo was an executive protection agent for CEOs and politicians until his move to the USA in 2000. In different professional capacities, Lozo has traveled the world and visited, worked, and/or professionally competed in 39 different countries.
Personal life
Lozo has been married to Gordana Lozo, electrical and software engineer, since September 14, 1995. The couple has a daughter Sara Lozo (born July 14, 1996).
Tough Love with Goran
From February 2012 to October 2013 Lozo hosted Tough Love with Goran, life coaching segment on the Regular Guys Show (Atlanta's Rock Station 100.5).
Coaching
Goran Lozo is an Atlanta based strength and conditioning coach, success consultant, and motivator. His clients are private individuals, amateur and professional athletes, and business professionals.
Lozo is the president of Goran Lozo Consulting Group LLC.
Karate career
Goran Lozo started his karate training in age of 14 (1979) under the supervision and guidance of one of great European champions Zika Vukojcic. He earned his Black Belt degrees in the following order:
1984 - 1st Degree (Sho Dan) from Karate Federation of Yugoslavia
1988 - 2nd Degree (Ni Dan) from Karate Federation of Yugoslavia
1994 - 3rd Degree (San Dan) from ITKF - International Traditional Karate Federation (# R-YUG-3-0001)
1997 - 4th Degree (Yon Dan) from ITKF - International Traditional Karate Federation (# R-YUG-4-0004)
2002 - 5th Degree (Go Dan) from ITKF - International Traditional Karate Federation (# R-YUG-5-0011)
2011 - 6th Degree (Roku Dan) from SKIF Serbia - Shotokan Karate Federation of Serbia (# 004/SRB-6)
Although his career was interrupted by military service, service in tactical police units, and executive protection career, for more than 15 years Lozo was competing all over the world and he ended career with record 206-58-5.
His book Karate (written in Serbian) was published in 1996 by Zigraf Publishing Company. The book explains differences in basic scientific approach to coaching athletes of different age groups from selection in early age to the world class athlete level.
His second publication, Goran Lozo's Workout Logbook and Journal (ISBN 978-0615564609), was published in 2011 by Vincha Publishing. The book is geared towards recreational and professional athletes for use with a variety of different sports and fitness activities.
In 1999 Lozo has earned Coaching Degree from the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Sport and Physical Education. For over 20 years, Lozo has helped to train professional athletes in karate, boxing, wrestling, kick-boxing, soccer, basketball, handball, track and field, and body building.
In 1995 Goran Lozo was member of Yugoslavian National Team in World Championship in Treviso, Italy and he advanced to 1/8 final individually and in 1/4 final in team competition.
In 1995 Goran Lozo competed at the Battle of Atlanta, sanctioned by NASKA (North American Sports Karate Association), and won third place in the heavy weight division.
