Jere Brower

Jere D Brower (born September 1, 1950) is a United States Army General and politician.
Early life
Jere Brower was born in Tupelo, Missouri in 1950. His father was a well known attorney and his mother a southern socialite. Brower attended University of West Georgia on a ROTC scholarship. At West Georgia, Brower was a standout football and basketball star. He was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Army Life
Brower was commissioned into the Army in 1972 and was posted first at Fort Drum, New York. He served in a variety of functions over the years-infantry company commander, aide-de-camp for General William Tully, infantry battilon commander, division executive officer and division commander. He was posted in Europe, Korea, Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Bliss, Texas. He was selected to be a general in 1993. Brower became the US Army Fifth Corps commander in 1998 and commanded from the headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. He was selected for the US Army European commander post in 2002. He retired from the Army in 2004.
Politics
Brower was elected mayor of Tupelo in 2007.
