Jean Jordaan

Jean Jordaan is a South African radio personality, MC, TV personality and philanthropist. He was born in the Western Cape of South Africa, on 23 April 1988, and now resides in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Early life
Jean Jordaan was born 23 April 1988, to Gerhard and Anita Jordaan, in his grandparents bed in, South Africa. He has one sibling, Talitha Jordaan, born 23 April 1994. He grew up in the town of Worcester in the Western Cape of South Africa. He started off his schooling at Worcester North Primary School. Jean then went on to Montana High School, also in Worcester. After completing his Senior Certificate, Jean was accepted into an undergraduate degree program at the University of Stellenbosch. Jean completed a BA in Humanities, majoring in Afrikaans and Psychology.
Career
During his undergraduate degree in BA Humanities, Jean began began looking for a job more involved in media.
In January 2009 Jean began training at the community radio station, MFM 92.6, in the Stellenbosch area. He thrived during his training and in May 2009 began an onair show. He began his radio career at MFM 92.6 with "The Morning Glory"(3am-6am), moving on to "The G-Spot"(weekends 3pm-6pm), then "The Nightshift"(weekdays 12am-3am), "The Detour"(weekdays 6pm-9pm) and finally "The Drive"(weekdays 3pm-6pm). He resigned at MFM 92.6 in August 2011.
In 2010 Jean began a monthly television appearance on MK a South African music channel. He appeared on the music talk show, Studio1, as well as the live chart show, MK-Live. In July 2011 Jean signed a contract with MK to join Elma Smit as the live host of Studio 1.
Jean has also done a lot of MC work, events ranging from the FNB "Varsity Cup" rugby, to live music events, festivals and concerts.
Philanthropy
In April 2010 Jean put his health and mental state at risk by embarking on a live 92.6 Hour Broadcast to raise money for the Community Committee at MFM 92.6. He presented shows on air for just over 4 days non-stop taking 5 minute breaks every hour. The broadcast was sponsored by 'Mind and Energy Booster', Turbovite. The broadcast took place live from the student centre ("The Neelsie") on campus at the University Of Stellenbosch. Jean went without sleep for 4 nights and spoke every 15 minutes on air. He received huge support from his friends, family, co-workers and the Stellenbosch community. After 4 nights and 4 days Jean finished his broadcast and raised R50 000 for the Community Committee. This money was used to revamp a soccer field and build a pavilion for an underprivileged community, Vlaeberg, on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.
Jean was the Community Co-ordinator at MFM 92.6, in 2011.
Awards
Jean received two awards at the 2010 MFM 92.6 Award ceremony. He received one for "The most improved presenter at the station" as well as "The most representative of the MFM brand".
In 2011 his fellow presenters awarded him "Presenter of the Year" at the ceremony
Trivia
Jeans favorite bands include local artists Foto na Dans, Ashtray Electric and Fokofpolisiekar, as well as the international band Red Hot Chili Peppers. He is an avid fan of all South African music and enjoys "fist pumping" at festivals and local music gigs. His favorite foods are pasta and cheese. He one day dreams of "winning the lotto".
