Jason Soroski

Jason Soroski, born September 30, 1974, is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter popular in Southeast Texas and the Midwest.
Biography
Early life and education
Jason Soroski was born in St. Louis, MO, a town with a rich musical history. Being from a musical family, Jason turned his attention at a young age to music, learning the violin, joining school and church choirs, and eventually mastering the guitar. He graduated from Ritenour Senior High School in 1992 where he was a member of the 4A State Champion track team, student leadership, National Honor Society, and was a member of various choral and drama groups, eventually finding his place on stage playing the role of the Padre in a school production of Man of La Mancha. He then attended Missouri Baptist University on music and academic scholarships from 1992 until 1996. During this time he was a member of various select choral groups, member of the English Honors fraternity Sigma Tau Delta, Vice-President of Student Government, and President of his Senior class. He graduated with a degree in Music/Vocal Performance, an English Writing Certificate, and returned to complete a Master of Science in Education in 2003.
Hourglass
The year he entered college, Jason felt the call to Christian ministry, and sought to minister through original music. While studying music at Missouri Baptist University in the mid 1990s he began to sit in with various local bands, and eventually formed his own group with several like-hearted musicians, with himself as the primary vocalist and lead guitarist. The group, originally named Renaissance, went through several lineup changes, and eventually emerged as the Christian rock band Hourglass. It was also during this period that Jason was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister.
Hourglass began touring regionally, and recorded their debut CD Don't Let Me Forget in 2000. This album was hailed by Alpha Omega news as "the perfect mixture of musical entertainment and poetic fulfillment". After releasing their first radio single, "Let it Flow", Hourglass became an extremely popular and sought after group in St. Louis and the surrounding region. The band enjoyed great success on local radio and television, and even began to sponsor their own events, such as a large “See You at the Pole” rally and concert. The group had a polished and subdued sound in the studio, yet their live shows were known for extended solos and spontaneity. After five successful years, the band went on hiatus when Jason and another member moved to the Houston, TX area, leaving their fans only their debut album and the searing blues single "Narrow Road" from a live concert at Missouri Baptist, the school where the band was formed.
Present
Since that time, Jason has become a popular and established act in Houston, TX, first playing as a sideman for other artists and finally emerging as a solo artist in his own right. Jason solidified his staying power by winning an "American Idol" contest at Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, TX. Along with music, Jason is also devoted to education, teaches a Senior level British Literature course at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, TX, and works as a freelance author.
