Jay Alani

Jay Alani (born 21 September 1989) is an Indian actor, Script developer, Conceptualiser and an Entrepreneur from Bihar, India. He has acted in the several short films of the Indian film industry.

Early life
Jay was born in Patna city of Bihar. He is the son of the businessman, while mother is a homemaker. He holds mass communication degree from Patna University.
He is also one of the directors in Trishul Telecom Private Limited, which develops infrastructure for telecom users.
Career
In June 2013 Jay, was nominated in the 2nd Delhi Shorts International Film Festival in 2013 for best story, best acting and best screenplay.
Script Writing
Always interested in writing scripts, Jay wrote a few short compositions after he quit his engineering studies. Initially, he wrote few documentaries about different places, before branching out and writing stories for short plays. He wrote and launched his first script titled ‘Bhangarh-Haunting haunted’ in 2011, followed by ‘Travelling to Jaisalmer’, ‘Kuldhara-Bhooton Ka Gaanv’ ‘Honeymoon Destinations’ in 2013.
He has also written or co-authored some comic theatre plays like ‘Lights, Camera and Action’, which was written in both Hindi and English. He then wrote two Hindi short plays titled ‘Sasurali Laddu’, ‘Charcha Me Bhi Kharcha’ and an English play ‘F***ing Words’.
He then took to serious documentaries and Wrote and acted in ‘Lost-Story of a Drug Addict’, which was a musical, dialogue-less short film. He then worked on his first ever feature-length film titled ‘Biharism-A Fight with Identity’, which highlights the discrimination faced by a Bihar-born lad from his counterparts in other states. He also played the lead actor ‘Vishnu’ in the film.
He has also worked as a content writer early on in his life.
Acting
As an actor, he played the role of the protagonist Vishnu in his movie ‘Biharism-A Fight with Identity’, which was released in home screens in 2014. He also played the lead in his short film ‘Lost-Story of a Drug Addict’, in 2013, which was also released on home screens and on the YouTube channel of his production banner ‘Impatto Films.
Anchoring
Jay has anchored almost all of his short documentaries, especially, ‘Travelling to Jaisalmer’ and ‘Kuldhara- Bhooton Ka Gaanv’.
Literary Work
After achieving modest success for his film Biharism and his short film Lost, Jay turned to writing and started working on his first book ‘The Bihari Theory’ in late 2014. The book, which is now on the verge of publishing, is a fictional account based on anti-Bihari sentiments faced by the protagonist Suraj, another Bihar-born. His first book is slated to release in June 2015.
Jay has also announced the title of his second book ‘Tokay Gecko’, which is expected to hit bookshelves by December 2015. Details about the book’s premise have been kept under wraps by the author.
Entrepreneurship
Jay is interested in entrepreneurship. He founded Impatto Films LLP, a production house that, he says, promotes new talents. His short film ‘Lost’ and movie ‘Biharism-A Fight with Identity’, have also been made under the same banner.
Having a sound business sense, Jay began as a businessman in his teenage and is currently one of the directors in Trishul Telecom Private Limited, which builds infrastructure for telecom users, since 2007.
Awards and Recognitions
His short film, Lost, was nominated in the 2nd Delhi Shorts International Film Festival in 2013 for best story, best acting and best screenplay. His movie Biharism also received mostly positive reviews in media organisations in his home state of Bihar.
