Early life and college
Longergan grew up in Dallas, Texas. He played basketball for Lake Highlands High School. He served as team captain in his senior season and was named first-team all-district and all-region. He was also selected as team MVP that season after averaging 16.9 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game.
He plays college basketball at Colorado College, where he is a rising junior. He has amassed a total of 174 points in his first two seasons as a Tiger, with a career high of 20 in front of his home town crowd at the University of Dallas in a 68-64 overtime loss.
In 2014, Lonergan was one of 202 college basketball players in the country nominated for the All State Good Works team. Nominees had shown "significant contributions to the greater good of their communities through volunteerism and civic service."
Water polo career
In the Spring of 2014, Lonergan expanded his athletic career to the IM inner-tube Water Polo league. On a legendary night, Lonergan scored 12 of his teams 13 goals in the championship game to lead his team to victory. Controversy followed the performance when the IM staff posted the losing team as the champions on the official site. To this day, it is unclear if it was a mistake or not.
