Israel Zohar (born 7 February 1945) is a painter residing in London. He specialises in portraits. Life and career Zohar was the only child of Russian Holocaust refugees. Born in Kazakhstan, he moved with his parents to Israel in 1949 and began his art studies there when he was 13. He moved to England in 1987 and had his first show there in 1989. In 1989 Zohar was commissioned by the 13th/18th Royal Hussars to paint a portrait for their headquarters of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment. In 2013, using his original sketches, he completed a second portrait of her as he imagined she would look had she lived. Dustin Neece studied with Zohar when he was 17.
