Elna Ernest

Elna Ernest (née Adlerbert) was born April 19th 1920 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her father, Axel Adler, was a successful businessman within the dairy industry and her mother, Rut Adler, worked both politically and socially primarily addressing issues within education.
At the age of 22 Elna moved to the United States where she studied for a Bachelor of Arts at University of Cornell, majoring in psychology.
Spending a lot of time in the art world of Greenwich Village, New York she soon met John Ernest, constructivist and painter and they were shortly married.
In 1943 their son Paul Ernest was born and in 1950 their daughter Susan was born.
In 1951 the whole family moved to London were Elna continued her studies within psychology and in did her Post Graduate within clinical psychology in 1955. She worked for 25 years at Westminister Hospital being responsible for the psychological services.
Always having art close to her heart she studied the craft and in 1980 she began her second career as a painter.
Elna is now living and working as a painter in Palma and Soller in Mallorca, Spain.
In 1961 Elna wrote a cooking book called "Cooking the Scandinavian Way" with her maiden name Adlerbert.
