iPayables is a California based company that provides AP automation, electronic invoice, services along the likes of other providers like Ariba Invoice, Basware, and OB10. iPayables focuses mainly on the accounts payable department as their client and enlists the client’s suppliers to use iPayables invoicing software (InvoiceWorks). As a result, iPayables has their own network of suppliers similar to Ariba and other solution providers. A Business Week article in June 2013 put the iPayables network of suppliers at 37,000 companies, in over 150 countries, including over half of the Fortune 100 These types of solutions allow vendors to key or upload information via the internet, with the basic goal of eliminating paper from the invoicing process. They make it possible for invoice payers to receive invoices electronically from all vendors and suppliers regardless of their size or technical ability. InvoiceWorks InvoiceWorks® by iPayables is described as an electronic invoicing and payment system that includes: PO presentment and matching, invoice entry, approval routing and dispute resolution. The solution can facilitate payment via ACH or Purchasing Card or can allow the client AP system to facilitate the payment. The application also allows for early pay or “dynamic discounts” offerings to suppliers. InvoiceWorks® enables suppliers to enter invoices through the Internet and provides software-quality functionality, such as adding infinite lines, creating a new invoices, customer-specific validations, robust dispute resolution, attachments and audit history. In addition, it offers Scan2e solutions that convert paper invoices into electronic invoices. As well as tools that integrate with purchasing systems to deliver purchase orders electronically to suppliers and has workflow and payment processing solutions. iPayables provides technical implementation, user training, business process analysis, functional configuration, vendor adoption and support services. History iPayables was founded in 1999. The founders drafted a patent for their web-based electronic invoicing technology in late 2000. It was submitted to U.S. patent office and the patent was issued November 30, 2004. The company has some large clients. Some of their current clients include Kroger, Paramount Pictures, FedEx Office and most of the major airlines including Delta and JetBlue. By 2003, iPayables was providing InvoiceWorks® as a service for American Airlines and American Eagle Airlines. Based on the airlines’ experience with the InvoiceWorks® solution IATA adopted InvoiceWorks® as an industry wide solution and began a reseller relationship that lasted until 2012. The business consulting firm BearingPoint was also party to that reseller relationship, but exited just prior to BearingPoint’s bankruptcy and dissolution.
