International School of Central Switzerland

The International School of Central Switzerland (ISOCS) is an international primary school serving students ages 3 to 12 in Kindergarten through Grade 6 in the regions of Zug, Luzern and Zurich. The school has been officially approved as a private school by the Canton of Zug.
Location
The school is situated in the picturesque town of Cham which is located on the northern shore of Lake Zug. Easy access is provided by the new A4 motorway linking Zug, Luzern and Zurich.
Curriculum
The International School of Central Switzerland (ISOCS) is committed to the beliefs and standards of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. This is a world-renowned curriculum that has been designed specifically for international schools and international understanding. It focuses on the academic, social and emotional development of children around the world for application to life.
It takes a minimum of three years from the date of opening, for a school to achieve official recognition or “Authorisation” from the International Baccalaureate (IB). Authorisation officially certifies the school’s direction and commitment to the PYP and entitles a school to describe itself as an "IB World School". ISOCS will shortly be registered as a Candidate School. It should be noted however that the founding teaching team are themselves IB PYP school advisors and visit schools to give workshops and conduct Authorisation visits. Consequently the school already aspires to the very highest international standards and anticipates gaining recognition as a leading IB school very quickly.
History
The Primary School was founded in 2008 and opened in August 2009 for the new school year with seventeen students.
The school receives excellent support from the local Cham authority.
Facilities
The school was purpose built with large, sunny classrooms in a brand new building complex called High Tech Park.
The facilities include interactive whiteboards in every classroom, laptop access for every student, a library, a music room and a stage for amateur dramatics.
The local Cham authority provides the school with access to their modern gymnasiums, swimming pools and four full size soccer pitches. The school has weekly access to other local amenities such as the Cham Music School, the Cham Library and local clubs.

Integration Program with the host country
The school strives to make the German host language relevant to its students. In order to promote this, sport and music are taught in German.
The school week is modelled upon the local Swiss school week so that the students are free on Wednesday afternoons to join in with local Swiss clubs and activities.
The students enjoy a healthy lunch, natural outdoor play and the opportunity to practice their German at a local club called "Teuflibach".
