Indian police officers suicide

Indian police officers suicide is widespread. Purported reasons include job pressures, depression, family problems and social stigma. The phenomenon is found across the ranks (constables to Indian Police Service officers).
Maharashtra Police personnel's suicide
Some 168 personnel in the Mumbai police ended their own lives from 2002 to 2012, according to a report by the National Crime Records Bureau. "Police personnel aged 35-45 led the list, with 76 of them ending their lives between 2006 and 2011. Those aged 45-55 came next, with 63 suicides; and 43 personnel aged 25-35 committed suicide."
Cases
Devnarayan Patel
Devnarayan Patel was a 40 year-old Superintendent of Police of Jagdalpur who killed his wife and himself. On 24 February 2014 he fought with a district court judge who accused Patel of beating him after an arrest for drunk driving.
CL Wasan
CL Wasan was a retired IPS officer who committed suicide with his own revolver in Noida on 24 February 2014. Wasan was a Director General of Police in Uttar Pradesh Police.
