The Iman Foundation is a London-based non-partisan and not-for-profit organization, which promotes dialogue to strengthen international understanding and co-existence through the exchange of ideas, people, culture and religion. The Iman Foundation has worked in countries including Lebanon, Egypt, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, and Spain to facilitate cross-cultural and inter-religious dialogue, promote pluralism, and counter extremism and violence. Members and supporters of the Iman Foundation have hosted, co-hosted and participated in numerous conferences, fact-finding missions, high-level religious and political talks, and academic, educational and cultural programs around the world, including: * religious and political discussions with leaders such as Pope Shenouda III, Ali Gomaa, Amine Gemayel, Walid Jumblatt, Guy Harpigny, and Amr Moussa; * a delegation to Egypt headed by Mohammad Al Hajj Hassan, Steve Baker and Syed Kamal, with the aim of promoting pluralism and the principles of free society; * annual conferences on the development, progress, impact, and future of the field of cultural diplomacy; * educational programs focused on intercultural and interfaith dialogue; * conferences on Islamism as a global threat. The Foundation has also been involved in helping to tackle religious conflict in Lebanon. A notable achievement has been its facilitation of a rapprochement between Alawite and Sunni Muslim communities in North Lebanon. The founder and chairman of the Iman Foundation is Ribal Al-Assad, a Syrian campaigner for tolerance and peaceful dialogue. Assad has written and spoken widely on topics related to inter-faith relations, cultural diplomacy and religious and political extremism.
