Society of Wine Educators

The Society of Wine Educators, often referred to as SWE, is a non-profit organization established in 1977 to encourage wine and spirits education through professional development and certification. The Society of Wine Educators was founded to educate wine producers, wine distributors, restaurants, beverage retailers, chains, and wine importers. In 2014, the Society of Wine Educators was recognized by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation as an ACFEF quality program.
Since 1977, the Society of Wine Educators has had 39 annual conferences in North America and Canada to provide a venue for educators, students, and enthusiasts to gather and learn more about the world of wine and spirits.
The Society of Wine Educators has the following certification programs: the Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), Certified Wine Educator (CWE), Certified Spirits Educator (CSE), and Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate (HBSC). These educational programs are internationally recognized and highly regarded in the wine and spirits industry.
