Kids Change the World is a youth-led non-profit organization based in New York that enables young people to take action in their community and believes in the potential of young people to make the world a better place. Since 2007, the organization has given grants and grassroots resources to youth who are motivated to start their own charitable programs and have been dedicated to improving the health and education of youth in developing countries. The organization's executive director and founder, Christopher Yao, is a young american philanthropist. Grassroots Services Kids Change the World provides young volunteers under the age of 20 who want to start their own charitable programs with promotional items, websites, and start-up guidance. Programs involved in Kids Change the World's grassroots services are also eligible to compete for two annual $1,000 grants. Children's Health Partnering with various organizations and hospitals including The Smile Train, Kids Change the World has provided more than $400,000 worth of cleft surgeries and treatments to children around the world. Additionally, Kids Change the World sponsors a student travel program for a training medical or leadership experience. Children's Education After the Kenyan post-election violence, Kids Change the World aided in the establishment of the Daos Children's Centre, where they provide hundreds of orphans with a basic education provided by five instructors. In addition, Kids Change the World began Education Preparation in 2010 that has free educational materials and videos for international students to learn. Isaac Lou Award for Young Heroes After the Isaac Lou's death from lung cancer in 2009, a dedicated supporter to Kids Change the World, the organization began the Isaac Lou Award for Young Heroes program to honor youth volunteers in their communities around the world. To date, the program has honored more than 55 youth. Awards and Recognition Since Kids Change the World's founding, it has been recognized by Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, CNN's Anderson Cooper, and CSI:NY's Hill Harper. Additionally, the organization is funded in part by the world's largest food and beverage company, Nestlé USA, UPrinting.com and is supported by the Corporation for National and Community Service, Kids Helping Kids, Inc., and the Yulin Yao Foundation.
