Illawarra bus routes

Illawarra bus routes connect suburbs in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. Services are largely integrated with the public transport network of Sydney, to the north.
The narrow coastal strip on which the Illawarra's suburbs are built makes the main South Coast railway line the key part of the region's public transport. A limited bus network was operated for a time by the Government of New South Wales bus company, the Urban Transit Authority. Today, bus services are operated by Premier Illawarra, Dion's Bus Service, Green's Northern Coaches and Kiama Coaches.
The Illawarra is considered as two of the Sydney Outer Metropolitan Bus System Contracts for the purposes of Ministry of Transport contracting arrangements, with Dion's Bus Service and Green's Northern Coaches making up region 9 and Premier Illawarra making up region 10.
Infrastructure
The network radiates from a bus terminal to the east of Wollongong's CBD, which is close to the beach. There is also a terminal at Wollongong railway station, in towards the CBD's west.
Comprehensive public transport information is provided by Illawarra TransInfo, run by the region's local governments, and the state government's Transport InfoLine.
Bus-only lanes are very rarely seen or used in Wollongong and the Illawarra.
